The January Edit
Happy New Year!
We hope the start to the new year has been a positive one for you.
We know the pressure that many of us face at this time of year to start something new, set new goals and challenge ourselves. Whilst this can be a good way to focus on your intentions our advice is to be kind to yourself. Listen to your body. Take each day as it comes and don't put any pressure on yourself, you're doing the best you can. These pillars of self care are what we try to consider everyday and below we have our January self care guide to help you navigate the first month of the year.
TAKE EACH DAY AS IT COMES
Each morning try to set out your intentions for the day, rather than for the month ahead. This way your goals will seem much more manageable. If you are aiming to head out for a walk each day, but the weather for that day won't allow, take that as a sign to rest instead.
SELF TIP:
We love to journal and spend 5 minutes noting our daily intentions each morning. We journal again in the evening to outline what we are grateful for from the day that has passed.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
In the busy world we live in it is easy to push ourselves harder and further. Whether that be with a physical activity or just fitting a little more work in. Listening to our body is a good way to know enough is enough and give yourself the break and rest you need rather than pushing on further.
SELF TIP:
Our key signals are:
- Aches signal a time for stretch if we are sat at our desk or rest if we are active.
- Tiredness tells us to relax, that means avoiding social media too.
- Fatigue tells us we need to nourish and take care of our bodies through nutritious food, plenty of water and fresh air.
MUG
A favourite mug of herbal tea at our desk or alongside us whilst we work is a sure fire way to make sure we stay hydrated.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF
It is often difficult to carve out a little 'me time'. But if we do it can be so rewarding and really help to recharge your energy. These things can be as simple as reading a book, having a bath or doing something that you enjoy or that brings you joy.
SELF TIP:
We aim to give ourself at least one kindness treat every week. Our favourite is a bubble bath with our favourite candle burning.
